September 30 – Review by Stefan – HEXX – ENTANGLED IN SIN (High Roller Records / Sure Shot Worx)

Hexx, one of my all-time favorite Bay Area Metal bands, just released its new album “Entangled In Sin”, an effort I’ve been looking forward to. This is album number 5 in the band’s history started in SF California, 1983. Before that, the band went through life as a Paradox. It’s guitarist Dan Watson who formed Hexx, I myself got to know the band with the release of their debut “No Escape” (Shrapnel Records 1984), followed by “Under The Spell” (Roadrunner Records 1986). Two fantastic US Power Metal efforts, unfortunately underrated to my point. Hexx did have the problem that they had to keep looking for vocalists or other musicians on a regular basis. In fact and to my point, anyone who came to complete the ranks as a newcomer always did an excellent job. Hexx always came up with talented formations, unfortunately the a lack of stability within the fold.

With both EP’s “Quest For Sanity” and “Watery Graves” as well as for their third entitled “Morbid Reality” the band chose to turn their Power Metal character to aggressive Death/Thrash Metal, also in this genre Hexx was omnipotent. Unfortunately, a well-deserved success was not achieved, shortly afterwards there was dead silence in the camp of Hexx. It took 12 years before another demo “Up From The Graves” was released, 1 year later a split single was released with another US band, Ruthless. READ MORE…
